Savant pioneers a new branch of modern, web-focused technology known as "Content Based Integration". We build micro-scale SOA adapters, called Feedlets, that transform the wealth of existing data laying unused in your enterprise into powerful, actionable information. This new take on the proven service oriented architecture approach radically simplifies creating powerful new "composite applications" that can freely mix and aggregate information across applications, departments and corporations.

The core unit of Savant applications is a Feedlet, a small server side component that transforms back end data sources into content packets. Feedlets use streaming XML to syndicate high value information to internal web sites and applications. Savant introduces an additional new concept: the Fuselet. Fuselets combine information across multiple feeds into new composite information. These feeds can come from Savant components, other websites that provide RSS feeds, even external data sources from stock market reporting all the way to embedded data recorders on specialized equipment.

Feed - a collection of content documents that are published to a web server and updated frequently

• Feeds are published in RSS, XML and HTML at the same time
• Feeds can be accessed by users, user programs (like Outlook) and other systems (they are SOA endpoints)

Feedlet - a small software component that transforms enterprise data into content documents

• Feedlets can draw data from a variety of sources not normally considered data in addition to databases and files
• Feedlets perform sifting and correlation on the bulk data they discover, and tag or categorize the content they publish
• Feedlets execute periodically (or as needed) to keep their content documents up to date

Fuselet - a small software component that combines tagged content together based on criteria (mash-up)

• Fuselets can use content created by any XML / RSS source in addition to content from Feedlets (including Yahoo, FedEx, Dow Jones, thousands of others)
